When Rathnamma became a foster-trainer, her neighbours asked why she was wasting time on a dog. She ignored them and kept working. That income helped her family through a difficult time - including her sister's emergency surgery.
The same neighbours now stop to ask about Hana and her training.

Eighteen Years at Home. Then Ádi Changed Everything.
Padma had spent eighteen years as a homemaker. She had never worked, never earned, never imagined a career. After Ádi came, that changed.
Today she is a dog foster-trainer with her own income - money she is putting toward her daughter's education.
"It makes me feel capable and confident. Having my own income feels really good."
The Arguments Stopped. Una Had Arrived.
Nanda describes life before Una as full of small daily stresses and the weight of routine.
"After Una came, our home became happier and more peaceful." Nobody quite knows how it happened. But everyone knows when it started.
Knowing Una will go on to change someone's life makes letting her go worthwhile. It will not be easy. But it is the point.
We Are Not Doing This Only for the Money.
The extra income from fostering Nia helps - Bharti is honest about that. But something else happened along the way.
Nia became part of the family, raised with love and care, not just as a programme dog but as their own. The income is welcome. The bond was unexpected.
"We do face struggles in life, so the extra income is helpful. But we are not doing this only for money. We are raising Nia with love and care."
Nala Walked In. The Neighbourhood Followed.
Before Nala, Sukanya and her family mostly stayed indoors. Now, their neighbours call out "Nala, Nala" with affection. A street that once felt distant now feels like their own.
Next door lives a neighbour with a disability. Nala has started picking up their slippers and bringing them over - unprompted.
"Everyone on our street loves her. She has helped us a lot."
Her First Job Was a Dog Named Zuri.
Girijamma had never worked before. Zuri changed that.
The income reaches where it matters - helping her family get by a little easier each month.
"It feels good that I can help my family a little through this."
The day Zuri leaves will not be easy. But knowing she will go on to do good work - that is enough.
Jin Came. And Everything Improved.
Jin was not easy at first. But with time, he settled - and so did they.
The income helps with whatever her child needs and the emergencies that come without warning.
"If Jin had not come into our lives, we would have felt very lonely. After Jin came, our home became much happier."
She Feels Like Our Child. She Is Also Paying Our Bills.
Mangala built her home with loans. The repayments were a quiet burden every month.
After Prima came and the training income started, something shifted. Every instalment paid is a reminder that a dog named Prima made it possible.
"After Prima came, our life started feeling a little more joyful and special."
The programme touches more lives than just the eight women. HeartDogs creates opportunity across the communities where the programme runs.
The Village Is Paying Attention. And It Wants In.
When families in the taluk saw what HeartDogs was doing, they wanted in. Families from nearby villages are now asking how they can foster and train dogs.
"We truly feel this initiative can create meaningful change in these communities. People are motivated and eager to learn."
No Need to Go Far. The Work Came to Him.
Kishan's mornings start with food delivery for the dogs. Evenings are for training sessions. It has become his routine - and he would not have it any other way.
The work is close to home. No long commute, no migration, no uprooting. Just a role that fits into the life he already has.
